Hair squeaking when wet?

Whats up guys. Warning the post is kind of long. I think something is up with my hair and I have no idea what it is. I have wavy brown hair. I part it down the middle and push it behind my ears. I've been growing it out for for a little over a year now(used to be buzzed). Its it is fairly even at the botton, since I had the back trimmed up a couple months ago.
I wash and condition my hair just about every day. It is usually pretty fluffy once it dries, so I usually end up wetting it down again and I don't any problems out of it after that. It still fluff up a little and gets wavy, but its not out of control and will stay behind my ears.
Here this last couple weeks I haven't been washing and conditioning it everyday, to avoid the fluffy stuff. I noticed my hair doesn't do it if I don't wash it every day, so I haven't been. Haven't had any problems.
Except now for some strange reason, whenever I get my hair wet I get a lot of resistance running my hands through it. Not rats or tangles, just plain old resistance. I can literaly hear my hair squeeking when it is wet and I run my hands through it. I don't know what the hell is going on, but I swear it never did that before. When I shampoo it in the shower it seems like I get a LOT MORE resistance when running my hands through my hair when rincing the shampoo off. Feels like I am pulling my hair when I rince the shampoo out. So I put the condition on, and it goes back to being able to run my hands through it fine. The conditioner rinces out fine, I comb my wet hair easily, let it dry out and it is fine. I can come comb it when it is dry fine. Later on, throw some water on it, and it is squeeking when I run my hands through it and I am getting resistance. When the hair dries it is nice and soft and easy to run my hands or a comb through.
I don't know if I am tripping here or what, but I never noticed this stuff before.
I don't know much about taking care of hair at all. I used pantene pro v shampoo and conditioner, it is what I have always used. I used to braid cornrows in my hair or I would gel it back. But these last few months I have been doing neither. These last few months I haven't noticed this stuff about my hair, so I think maybe there is a problem?
So is there a problem? or am I just being paranoid and showing my lack of knowledge about hair?
Thanks, sorry for the long post.

Not sure I can answer this exactly but this used to happen to my hair as a kid. I think I remember 'squeaky clean' adverts for hair donkeys ago on TV. I doubt it's anything to worry about.
