Anti-Baldness

I am concerned that I will go bald. My dad died at forty and wasn't going bald. My brother is forty and isn't going bald. My mom's dad didn't go bald until he was 70 or so. I never want to lose my hair. I know if I do go blad I will still not cut my hair, I just don't want it to fall out!

It sounds like you are overreacting. If none of your relatives went bald early, there is a good chance that you will not either. There are, however, evasive actions for treating baldness that you could take if so the case (i.e. hair transplant surgery)

Don' worry! It's your mother's father that determines when you'll go bald.

Oh? How so? If it is, I'll have long hair until I'm 70 (my mother's father has a pony tail and mostly full head of hair).

In genetics the mothers genes are stronger for hair so have priority over the male genes when making a baby. This is for hair colour, type, strength and baldness. This is true for hair colour too. It gets a bit more complicated when colour of the skin is introduced to the mix as darker skin colours are predominant over lighter skin tones. Obviously this affects the hair mix too. It's all about where the dominant gene comes from.
