Curls disappearing in back?

Those of us with slightly wavy hair have the problem of the hair in back curling outward as it grows. You know what I mean - it looks like we have a little "hair handle" above our necks.
Anyway, I know this curl eventually falls as the hair gets longer, but am wondering if it happens gradually or all of a sudden as the hair reaches the critical weight to pull the curl out. The reason I ask is because it happened suddenly for me! Yesterday, my hair was still curling out about 2 inches (looking kinda weird), but today, its falling straight down on both sides. No straightening agents, blow drying, or nothing. Is this consistent with your experiences, guys?

Only a guess..........but at a certain point "Gravity" will tip the scale. Sounds like this is what happened.

My experience has always been gradual, but I never had much of a 'curl'
to begin with. Since it happened so suddenly, perhaps there was
a change in humidity? Any change in your hair care pattern?
Is the curl still gone tomorrow? :-)
