What the follicle am I doing this for?

Hello long haired ones,
I want you all to know this.
I haven't had a hair cut for five months now and I look a total mess.
Not long enough for a ponytail so I have to endure it in my eyes, twenty four hours a day.
Takes longer to wash, about fifteen and a half hours on average and my shampoo bill has bankrupted me.
People say, "When are you having a hair cut?" and they say it ALL THE BLOODY TIME.
Why am I doing it?
Does anyone know?
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr naghhhhh par (Klingon profanity)
David

It is the "ackward" stage of ur hair growth for a reason... Once (or if) you get passed it u'll be happier with your hair and how it behaves

: my shampoo bill has bankrupted me.
I have over a foot of hair. I am still using the same bottle of shampoo I bought 8 months ago for less than $5. Don't use so much shampoo. You'll find your hair will be less of a scruffy mess if you let some of your natural scalp oil actually get to your hair. Hope this helps.

You say
Takes longer to wash, about fifteen and a half hours on average
People with knee length hair don't take that long to wash their hair, so maybe you are using too much shampoo or not rinsing enough.
Good luck - after 5 months you must be getting closer to your goal.
Why?

You should be doing it for yourself. If you are, then the frustration of the awkward stage shouldn't be defeating, just something to get through.

The shampoo remark is a joke - it doesn't really take me fifteen and a half hours to wash my hair and I am not really bankrupt.
It works like this.
A joke.
Question: What do you call a six foot parrot?
Answer: Sir.
You see, there aren't any six foot parrots really, it's pretend, a gag, a joke (a crap joke but still a joke)
Why am I explaining this?
David.

Because you're bored and you think we're stupid?

: I want you all to know this.
Okay...
: I haven't had a hair cut for five months now and I look a total mess.
Welcome to the "awkward" stage.
: Not long enough for a ponytail so I have to endure it in my eyes, twenty four hours a day.
Yup, I went through that, until I started slicking my hair back with water and cementing it in place with hair spry.
: Takes longer to wash, about fifteen and a half hours on average and my shampoo bill has bankrupted me.
My hair has just started touching my ass, and it only takes me about 10min to wash. You're using far too much shampoo, and taking far too long to wash. You really only need about a quarter-size of shampoo, as the only part of your hair you're supposed to be cleaning is on your scalp. When you rinse, the shampoo will trickle down the rest of your locks, cleaning them as well.
: People say, "When are you having a hair cut?" and they say it ALL THE BLOODY TIME.
Are these people strangers, or friends and family? If the former, ignore them. If the latter, ignore them.
: Why am I doing it?
Only you can answer that question.
: Does anyone know?
We don't even know you. How the hell should we know why you're growing your hair?

Ah.... a Trekky. Ka'plah!
(It frightens me that I still know "Ka-plah". I gave up on Trek a decade ago. For the Non-Trekkies on the forum, it's the Klingon battle cry for "success!" I figured a little well-wishing might help him through the awkward stage - grin)
