My people!

Greetings all:
Jeremy in Asheville, NC here. I just had to post a note to say how excited I am to find this board. I've been growing my hair out since November 2002, and it's good to see other guys experiencing the same frustration and excitement as me. I have very curly hair, and it's at a point right now that if I dont' blow-dry it straight every other day it's a big annoying mess, but when it's straight it's manageable. (But believe me, when it's long enough to lay well curly, no more blow-drying.)
According to Greg's rankings of the "Bad Hair Phase" at http://www.oz.net/%7Egreglove/longhair/longhair.htm, I'm late Phase 3/early Phase 4 (or, for lack of a better comparison, a la Shaggy from "Scooby-Doo"). The pic below was taken in November 2003. I'll take a new one in the next few days and post it.
Cheers,
Jeremy

I currently live in Taylorville, Illinois (the past 15 years), but I was born and raised in the Great Smokey Mountains of North Carolina up untill 17 years old. I was born in High Point, but from 5 years old and on I grew up in the Nantahala National Forest area (Bryson City, Andrews, Murphy, Wesser Creek, etc). Been to Asheville on several occasions when I was younger. Great to have you here on this board and keep that hair growin', bro! Peace!
Put that blow dryer away

Dude,
You're hair looks a lot better in it's natural state. No, I'm not a straight hair hater either. Just think you shouldn't screw up mother nature. IMHO of course. Thanks for sharing the great photos and your awesome webpage.

Hi everyone:
Thanks for your kind words and your encouragement. I'd always found longhairs to be an incredibly easy-going and kind group, and this board further cements that belief. I look forward to sharing my progress with you. And Txclpr...believe me, it's with much reluctance that I blow-dry my hair. But if I don't it's just a big, unmanageable mess. I look forward to the day when it's long enough to lay well in its natural state. Hopefully sooner than later! :-)
Cheers!
Jeremy
