Pbase Funded
Posted by Webmaster on March 08, 2004 at 22:38:42: Previous Next
All,
I'm pleased to announce that the Pbase account is fully funded for a year. I will therefore open it up for requests for access. I will review each request for access and give you terms and instructions which you may use to upload your pictures and how to refer to them here.
Pbase also creates a sort of mini forum with each picture uploaded, so that can be a great way to comment on specific pictures.
So, here is the simple procedure for signing up:
* Send me an email requesting access. Be sure to give me the name you use here on the message board. The email address you should send requests to is hyperboard@the-light.com (click Webmaster on this message).
Any suggestions for how to arrange the site can be posted in this thread.
For you designer types, if you have or can create a thumbnail size (follow the link to see the size of thumbnails) picture for each of the gallery sections, that would be great. For now, the gallery sections will be:
* Members
* Progress
I'm sure others will be added as the design of the site progresses.

I sure hope Pbase will NOT replace The Men's Long Hair Hyperboard.
If The Men's Long Hair Hyperboard goes and Pbase is the only option, I probably won't bother to sign up.
The cookies, email sign up, password to remember, and spam all make it just not worth it to join a another new message forum. I'd willing to contribute at least $50, but the "costs" of opening an account, risks of email spam, risk of ID theft, risk that the service provider will change the rules, and unknowns A through Z all make the "cost" many times more than the $50 I'm willing to contribute.

Let me assure you that it will not. It is meant to supplement the hyperboard to allow people without a website to upload pictures they can include in posts on the hyperboard.
You need not learn the ropes of pbase either. You can send your pictures via email to pix @ the-light.com. This will send the picture(s) to myself and a couple other people who've volunteered to help in this way.
If you email pictures, you can expect a delay until one of us gets the email. We will post the picture and give you the URL to use.
