dew rag?

Got a question, how does one put on a "dew rag", anyone have a set of instructions, or pics? Also what works good as a dew rag, were might I get one? I am trying to find new ways to control my hair, that is cool, and differnt from the typical rubber band. I have gotten to the point that I don't really even like the kind with out the metal, they even seem to be too damaging.
Thanks

They are bandanas and I get mine at the local 'dollar' store. I've seen *identical* bandanas at various 'urban' clothing stores. They cost waaaaay more than a dollar. Anyway, you get your bandana and if you want to make a band just fold it in half then fold it into a 1" strip. Once you get it tied you can leave it tied and just slip it on and off your head. I wear mine covering my head. For this you fold it in half but don't *quite* line up the two halves (this leaves the ends thinner and makes it easier to tie). Put the long edge against your forehead and the 'point' over the top of your head. Bring the two ends around, pull them tight and cross them over each other (make half of a square knot). Bring the point over your head and lay it over the half-knot. Now finish off the knot with the ends, trapping the point inside it. At this point you may be happy with the look or you may wish to tuck the loose material at the 'corners' of your head under the part that wraps around. I do this because it makes me look tough ;). If you have enough hair in the back you have the option of wrapping the ends *under* the hair and leaving the point loose. I strongly recommend that you use a hair tie, at least while you are tying the bandana. Once you get it tied you can slip it on and off without untying it. Buy a few and wash them after a few days of use and retire them when they start to look ratty.
My offer: I will make a picture series on bandana tying if I get at least *five* requests.

OK, I'll make a pictorial essay on tying bandanas. I'll do my level best to get it posted this week.

The best way to do it is get a Bandana and just experiment and
find what works for you and what you like best. There are lots
of was to wear it, lots of things to do with it. It comes down to
what works for you, what floats your boat if you will. The only
limit is your imagination......

The most critical point with tying a bandanna is to tie DIAGONAL corners together. Until you realize you gotta do that, it will never reach around your head unless you've got an awfully small head.
I've got a bit about them, including how to tie one, on this page.
