Hair Growing Motives

I was wondering if anyone out there has a girlfriend, or someone else close, who desires her significant other to have long hair. I've known a couple of guys whose girlfriends were so gaga over long hair that they wanted them to grow it out.
Do any of you have stories about girlfriends being adverse to you getting a haircut after it starts to grow? Or are most of you determined to grow your hair long because it's something you want to do.

The girl who is now my ex-girlfriend pressured me to keep it long ever since I was in the awkward stage... But I've really been growing it for myself the whole time. :)

Growing your hair long for SOMEONE ELSE is rarely a good idea.
Because unless you have no mind of your own, becoming a Longhair
is really a MAJOR transformation: Not only will you
look and feel differently, but you whole way of THINKing will change.
And even though you may really want long hair...
at some point, you will have to say a sort of 'goodbye' to the 'old'
you, and that can be a sad experience.
What???

Isn't that opinion a little excessive? I mean, though I am enjoying growing my hair, in reality it's only something that makes you appear a little different. I agree that peoples opinions of you might be different, but surely it shouldn't change how 'you' are.

I just realized a year ago that I've always been attracted to men who have long hair. I would never force a man to do something he didn't want to do himself.
Of course, when I married my husband, I told him if he ever cut his hair I'd leave him. That isn't why I left him...it took 1 year after he cut his hair for me to be completely fed up with him...but, subconscience may have played a big part.

My wife does not like long hair on men. She would be happy if I buzzed it tomorrow. BUT, she knows it makes me happy so she supports it.
When I first talked about growing it, she told me if I was going to grow it, then grow it looong. She really doesn't like the in-between medium length styles.

Well, I grew mine out because
1. I like long hair
2. Haircut phobia
3. Distintive
4. Being a female I find it more feminine to wear my hair long, not that long hair is always feminine, it's my opinion that long hair enhances the gender of the wearer what ever gender they are
5. Umm, cats like to play with it and I like cats er ummm yeah

I'm not sure if any of my girlfriends were crazy about me having long hair when I was single, and I don't think my wife likes it all that much either really. However, none of them ever knew me with short hair as it's been long for the last 30+ years, i.e. since my teens.

I decided to grow mine out because I was bored of shortness.
I couldn't be happier tbh, long hair suits me way better than short.
Best decision I ever made.

I'm determined to grow my hair out mostly for myself.
