Yes, this was one of my WORST problems that happened to me
while I was in the awkward phase.
Here is what I did:
After shampooing and conditioning my hair, I would towel dry (not too dry) my hair.
Next I would style it as best I could.
Lastly, I'd work on that 'flipping' problem in back of the
head where the hair meets the collar area.
The reason it flips in the first place is because it is not long enough
for the weight of the hair to relax that 'big curl.'
It really needs to be 'directed'.
Now, some people claim that a simple reversal of that flip (undercurling)
is enough.
But that did not work for me so instead of curling it downward...
I curled it SIDEWAYS.
Just take an inch or so of your hair at a time and rotate it SIDEways, like spaghetti on a fork.
At the SAME TIME, move your comb DOWNward, so that you are
making a slow spiraling motion downward.
Next, allow your hair to dry that way. (You may have to add gel
in your damp hair before you spiral it).
It really works if you do it correctly.
Unfortunately, I had to do this for MONTHs while in the awkward phase.
Hope this helps!
Good Luck!
Thanks
