Questions for thick/curly hair

Last time I got a hair cut was April of 2003 with a shaved head. I haven't cut it since, but I got it straightened in December. From the straightening my hair is frizzy, dry, and increasingly falling out. I use conditioner everyday and nothing seems to work. Should I just cut the part that was straightened off and
start over again? Also, when my hair was curly, it would puff out or appear like an afro.. if I keep growing it curly will it eventually fall down or keep growing outward?
Thanks,
Dan

I'm part Liberian so I'm pretty close to having genuine afro hair, and yeah, it does part itself and grow down but it takes time, patience and thick skin to avoid all the abuse you'll get from people. Took me about a year to 14 months for my hair to properly start growing down. It's been a year and a half now and I'm happier with it every day. Just persevere, man.
