hey all !
its been a while since i posted a message. ive been growing my hair since november and its coming in pretty good. but i have been trying different styles and was wondering, is there a good hair product to use that will keep your hair down ?? i have been thinking of slicking it back , kind of a "tight" look, but i dont know what products i should use. if any one has an idea, it would be appreciated. thank you much.

Hey man, I've been growing my hair since november too, how long is your hair right now? Do you have a picture?
I may slick it back sometime soon, but I want to try and stay away from that gel stuff, i don't feel its necessary, if ppl dont like me, i dont care, it doesnt bother me, the ones that do, that's fine, but they'll see;)
Sorry, a bit otp there:), I have no advice sorry.
Bye

Just experiment with different gels. I couldn't really recommend one over another, and also it depends what country you are in as to what's available.
Good luck

Hi,
I've been growing mine since last September and the only thing that does any good is extra hold gel, extra hold gel & more extra hold gel, and it works best on damp hair otherwise you get big chunks of dry gel and patches of hair not touched by the gel at all. I prefer to use just fingers only which gives a "messy but neat" look but avoids the damage bruses can cause especially to wet hair. If you need to comb/brush use a wide toothed one only to help avoid damage.
Not sure what brands you have available but extra hold seems to be much of a muchness, at least the ones I've tried here in Australia.
Cheers, Matt.

I use V05 extreme hold. Its that strong I couldn't pull a brush through it. One problem is it makes me look like Al Capone.

Hmmm...I hear the guy had money and he wore nice suits. I wouldn't mind having a nice suit. And money. Is the vo5 mousse? The last time I saw Al Capone on tv his hair was slicked back with what looked like pomade. Is that what it leaves hair looking like (greaser style)?

I used to use Dep Extreme Hold gel. (I think that's the name...anyway, it's the one with #10 -- or the highest -- hold level.) It's insanely inexpensive (like $4 or $5 at the most) and doesn't contain alcohol.
Cheers,
Jeremy

...used the Dep #10 gel as well LA Looks. Each brand seems like they are sporting these 'leveled' gels now where the higher the number, the stronger the hold. So, 1) make sure the gel has no alcohol and 2) get the highest number gel you can. Also, if you have a Walmart around you, I strongly suggest going there. I have yet to find better prices for most toiletries than at Walmart.
