New Directory of Hyperboard Users

New Directory of Hyperboard Users

Victor has had me making some major software upgrades to the hyperboard. As part of those upgrades, which will be installed soon, we will have a Directory of Users. If you are in the directory, the software will recognize your e-mail address and insert a photo in your message like the one you see of me above in the upper left corner of this message. If people click on that photo, they will be taken to your web page (try my photo above, and see), or to a larger version of your photo if you do not have a web page. Putting a face with your messages will help people remember you, and having the link to your web page on every message will make it far easier for people to check out your latest pictures. You won't have to keep putting links to your page anymore.

This new users directory is not connected to the Hyperboard yet, but it soon will be. If you are a regular user, you'll want to take a look at it! It is here:

Directory of Users

What we have done is taken those of you for whom we had pictures and an e-mail address, and put you all in. There are 33 of you in there now.

If you have made photos of yourself available and we have left you out, it is probably because you never post with your e-mail address. We will have the option of SUPPRESSING your e-mail address so it does not publicly show, so you can still be in the directory. What will happen is that you will put your e-mail address in when you post, and it will be recognized so that your photo is inserted, and then the e-mail address will be removed before the message is actually posted. This will be the case if you ask for the OPTION of e-mail address suppression. People who don't ask for that option will have their e-mail address show (like it does now) and also get their small picture.

Sherri, who maintains the Men's Long Hair Hyperboard Pics pages, will ultimately be maintaining this new list as well. However, I will be maintaining it until the initial launch of it settles down, because it will involve more work then than Sherri has time for, and as the programmer I want to keep an eye on it at first.

Take a look at the new Directory, and contact me if you have any questions, or any revisions to what we have shown for you now. If you are not listed and want to be, go to this page to add yourself to the listings.

Comments in reply to this thread are of course welcome!
