Small Request

Hello again, this is the kid that was worried earlier about long hair and ears that stick out. Can someone with the same condition ( ear's sticking out ) and with long hair send me a couple pics or just one through e-mail or website?

Hi Jake :-)
I know you are worried, but try to relax. You hair really will grow to cover your ears, and I promise it won't look anything like this:

You have to paste this into your address bar to see it:

Summer's coming up, I don't know how good your friends are, but hopefully they won't give you crap if it does look bad for awhile. Try finding someone in a band who's got long hair and ask them how they grew theirs out.

I won't have to worry about friends, won't see them much. Other than that, I wanna share my time scale with anyone who cares.
In December I began growing my hair out with hair about average length. It's now April and my hair is almost to ear-lobe length. At the end of summer, should it be through the bad stage(s)?
Sorry if I'm pissing anyone off but hey, I need to ask some people, no one around here has long hair.
sorry, can't help

I can't answer that myself, you're ahead of me. Hopefully someone else will give you some advice. It seems like most people on this board already have long hair and probably don't remember the little details from the growing-out stage.
What are you doing with your bangs while they grow out? Mine keep getting in my eyelashes and I end up trimming the bangs out of frustration. Have you gotten any maintenance trims or anything else? I'm just trying to learn myself, since it's looking a bit shaggy here and my boss wants me to do something about that.
, you've come to the right place

Hi :-)
This message is to both Jake and Keith. You guys have come to the right place. There are guys here who have long hair, and who are in various stages of growing their hair out -- and most all of them are happy to share their experiences and answer questions :-) If neither of you have done this yet, let me suggest that you take a little time to read some of the messages posted here on the board. I think you will find that there are a lot of guys like yourselves, and also learn quite a bit about the growinig out stage.
Theron :-)

Well, my hair's nearly completely covered my ears now, and my bangs, when pulled straight, are a little past my eyes, the longest is the bridge of my nose. I know exactly what style i'm going for: in the awkward stage it will be something like kurt cobains in teen spirit, and when it's longer, I want it to look like Steve-O who used to post on this board.
My ears dont really stick out, but they are quite large, and If you've got thick hair, you'll have no problem at all. If not, a sewing needle might work:)
Na man, don't use that, im joking!

Just wondering here. Are you still growing out your bangs, or are you looking to have something like a fringe, while the back and sides grow long?... Coz if you keep trimming those bangs when they get in your eyes, they're never going to gain length.

Yeah, I'm trying to grow them out. I'm not really sure if my hair is flexible enough to grow it out yet. When I go to the hairstylist place I'm going to ask them if it's too course, and if it is I'll stick with a shorter look, but not too short. Sort of shaggy. If they say it's not too course then I'll let it grow out and see what happens.

Here's a thought - why don't you check out some of the progress pics posted by some of the other board members:
You'll find links to many people's progress pics from this web site: http://www.bettadreams.com/themenslonghairhyperboardpics
My own are not available online but I can tell you I grew out from a pretty short style (1.5 inches) in End of Jan 2003 - and by June 2003 it was pretty awkward. But by the time November came around it was over the worst. Given what you've described you'll probably be in the clear of the first (and worst) part of the awkward stage by the end of the summer.
Then of course they'll be a whole host of other annoyances, like flips, curls, but you'll feel much better about them because atleast your hair will be vissibly "long".
