Straightening Experiment
Posted by Sorted on April 16, 2004 at 14:35:18: Previous Next
A friend has been nagging me to let her straighten my hair for a few weeks, and the combination of nagging and curiosity finally got to me and I let my friend Danni loose with her straightening iron.
Here's the pics as a result:
Its amazing how much longer it looks, particularly at the back which is usually a mass of flips and curls - in fact its the first time my hair has looked 'neat' from behind in about 9 months. That said - for me its a little too "perfect" it wont become a regular look... fun tho the experiment was.
Whats most freaky is my friend actually is co-manager of my local pub, and she elected to make a public spectacle of this event by straighting my hair in a booth in the pub - sure enough it attracted a few curious glances but went down well. *blushes*
Anyways just thought I'd share....
(fingers crossed with my HTML - I really hope I don't humilate myself again - I'm supposed to be a 'web designer'.)

Greetings:
Can you post a photo of your hair in its natural state? The back of my hair is a mass of flips and curls, too, and I've been wondering what a straightening iron would do to it. I'd like to compare your regular hair to mine to get an idea if the results might be the same.
But with that said, the straight look is good.
Cheers,
Jeremy

Awesome hair, I really like it. I think it looks especially cool from the side, I guess one of the perks of having long hair is that babes can play with it, can't wait!
Well done mate, it suits you well

While I agree it certainly looks longer and not all bad I stillthink the natural look is better.
It is however brilliant to see people take an interest and respect your hair.
It is EXCELLENT - you should be proud.

Alas.........guess it is just Human nature for we Humans to yearn for something we don't have. Needless to say however is that your hair looks outstanding!!!!!!!! Killer to die for hair. Awesume!
I can well see why you like the "Straightened look" for it is such a fabulous success and looks great on you. (This is not to say that without straightening your hair doesn't look well in the slighest.)
Sometimes I can't help but wonder about all the Women with Straight Long Hair who MUST be using irons available by the ton in dept. stores everywhere. To my eyes anyway, I can't detect the damage that I know of and have read about to straighten ones hair. (Doesn't seem to bother them........but then again I have never asked.)
1.) Perhaps this damage depends on the type hair of the person? 2.)And of the damage......I wonder how much it decreases terminal length?
Does anyone out there have any thoughts about this?
Justin~

Well, maybe if the straightening is used in moderation and only ocassionally
there won't be much, if any, damage.
Women have been using this and that over long periods.
Some seem to have very healthy-looking hair while others
have that 'fried' look!

Well thanks for the comments guys. Must admit it was nice to have "controlled" hair that wasn't full of gunk - my naturally wavey hair can get a bit big and wild.
That said - I was really aware of how much it dried my hair out and although I stuck with it for 48 hours I was just dying to wash it and get some moisture back into my hair.
Dunno if I'll do it again - probably... but not for a while.
