Tips on doing an afro?

Anyone here ever done their hair in an afro? I think mine's still at a length where, if done right, I could have a fun afro, but I have no idea where to start. Any tips?
Cheers,
Jeremy

If your hair's thick and curly, simply brush it back and it'll afro up like crazy...mine used to before I decided brushing or combing was for the birds...;)

If you have the hair type, there's really not much to do. Just use a pick to keep it detangled and fluffy.

If your hair is more straight/wavy than curly, have a stylist friend WATERset it with yellow perm rods. Have fun!
