WWWBoard Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
Here is a list of rules and a brief explanation of some of the questions you may have
about WWWBoard and The Men's Long Hair Site. You may also wish to read Bill Choisser's article,
On Being a Longhair
RULES
This board is for posting about long hair on men. Any posting on this subject
that passes the rest of the rules is an allowable post.
- Most of the rules can be summarized: Stay on topic, and be courteous.
- Read the board before posting to get an idea of the flavor of the site.
- Pick a handle or use your name and stick to it.
- Do not include message content in a handle. For example, don't respond
to a post using a "creative" handle name. The subject line may be used for
this purpose if constrained to only a few words.
- Do not use someone else's handle.
- Do not use foul language. This site is intended for all audiences. Repeated
offenses may subject the poster to be banned from the board. Disguising foul
language is considered to be worse than simply using foul language because the
language is still apparent and there's additionally an intent to deceive.
- If you have a picture, use the image field in the posting form to include
a link to your picture. These pictures will add significantly to the content.
Unless you explicitly state in your message otherwise, submitting a picture
in this way constitutes your agreement to have the picture included in a future
gallary or members list page.
- Posting of fantasy is permitted -- however it must be clearly identified
as being fantasy.
- When responding to a post, make sure your reply is consistent with the
head of the thread. If your topic has nothing to do with the original
thread, start a new thread.
- If you have a problem with a post, contact
the webmaster by email at hyperboard@the-light.com
for resolution so the board does not get cluttered.
- Ladies are welcome here. However, the conversation must stay on topic.
Illustrating hair styles with female pictures is fine, for example, if the
attached message refers to some aspect of hair style on men. However, if a
male picture that illustrates the point just as well is also available,
please use it instead.
- This board is not a matchmaking center. No personal ads. The
philosophy here is that if you want someone to contact you, include your
e-mail address on appropriate posts. If anyone is interested in you, they may
contact you directly.
- Feel free to contact authors of posts directly by e-mail. However, please
be courteous.
- FLAMES: If you are flamed on the board or if someone else is, do
not respond to the poster on the board. Contact
the webmaster by email at hyperboard@the-light.com
with any complaints. The webmaster checks email messages at
least daily.
- SPAM: Same comment as for FLAMES.
Men's Long Hair Site Q & A
WWWBoard Q & A
Men's Long Hair Site or
Men's Long Hair Site?
This board has been set up in order for all people to post messages relating
to long hair on men. Women and children are encouraged to participate.
Messages and pictures posted here should be appropriate for all age groups. The
administrator will remove any message deemed to be offensive. Additionally,
if the administrator receives complaints about particular users or messages,
they will be considered for removal.
What about related chat links?
Can I post pictures?
If you would like to submit a picture to accompany your article, please use
the appropriate field on the form. This will cause your picture to appear
just prior to your message. Please do not post animated GIF images. If you
would like your pictures to be considered for inclusion in the companion
Men's Long Hair Site, please
send the administrator a note including
the title of your messaage or include the image as an attachment to the
email message.
Can I put html tags anywhere in my posts?
No. You can not use HTML tags in any field except body of the message.
This board currently allows users to embed HTML code. However, if this
privilege is abused, it will be removed. Additionally, please don't use
any of the following tags:
- Tables (unless very small)
- Flashing text
- Any code that would be time consuming to load
Why are there colons in the message when I try to post a
followup?
Colons appear in the message dialog box when you try to followup up on a
message to indicate that those lines are quoting the previous document.
Quotes will automatically appear in the form. To conserve space, and
to make reading messages easier, it is suggested that ONLY RELEVANT TEXT
be quoted. It is further suggested that comments be integrated with the
quote so that scrolling is not necessary for the user.
Why didn't my post show up?
Your post most likely did not show up, because your browser did not reload the
page, it simply pulled it out of cache. Please reload your browser and it
should then appear.
Where can I get the scripts for this program?
The scripts are written in Perl and created by Matt Wright. They are
free to anyone who wishes to use them and you can get them as well as other
scripts at: http://worldwidemart.com/scripts/.
Enjoy!
