about to give up on propecia
Posted by christopher k on October 18, 2000 at 11:12:01: Previous Next
well for 8 month Ive been using propecia for my receding hairline
and have seen no change in fact it has continued to recede
another 1/8th of an inch on my temples and for 2 month I did extra
strength rogaine and prpecia at the same time I used to have shoulder length hair but out of frustration 3 month ago I had it hacked
off to the short spikey look I cant take it I want to grow it back
and know it will take some time and just want to know if anyone else has experienced this frustration and may of done the same thing
I intend to condition every day and try to not cut for 1 full year
but the receding has gotten me going crazy has anyone tried viviscal?
its supposed to make hair grow real fast and stop loss too.
I feel like its unfair im only 27 and dont want a 47 year old hairline
and especialy those people with perfect hair keep it short when those of us want longhair and it doesnt want us
help

Well, my hairline receded in the 20's, but it eventually stopped receding and, other than that, I have never had pattern baldness.
Have you tried facial hair? it can go a long way to offset any impression of thinning head hair.

I've used propecia for about 2 years with very good results - was thinning on crown. Th propecia stopped that and regrew. But I do not believe the propecia will have any effect on the front receding hairline. Suggest you look at the alt.baldspot newsgroup for advice. If you do decide to stop the propecia I believe the recommended method is to taper off rather than stop cold to avoid the surge of hormones you were suppressing - you can get that info on the newsgroup as well.

Hi!
i'm also 27 and my hair is also receding. I have been taking propecia for about 7 months but there is no clear improvement. I don't know if it will have any effect on me.
My hair? I keep it very short...I think it is less traumatic and less depressing to see short hair fall than nice long hair
good luck
