I have long hair, and sometimes when I run my hands through my hair, i end up getting couple of strands of hair on my hands. Is this normal?

Absolutely. Don't worry about it. But don't feel bad about asking. We see that question over and over on here. Hair strands do not live forever and so they do fall out. But a new strand will generally grow in each's place.

Even on a good hair day, everyone loses at least 40 to 100 strands

Shawn,
You've discovered the reason humans were intended to wear their hair long.
Back when we two-leggeds were more tribal, and lived off the land more, our hair provided the birds with nesting materials. That is our natural purpose for growing long hair. Please, consider saving the hair from you comb and brush and leaving it outside for the birds to use for nesting material.
I discoverd this a few years ago. I park under a covered parking space at an apartment complex. Long hair gets stuck to my car seats. When I cleaned it out of the car I just left it on the ground. Then I noticed a birds nest above my car on the girder of the covered parking frame. The nesting materials were held together by my long hair that I had left by the car.
Think about it, hair is the perfect nesting material. It's long to weave other materials together, it's strong enough to withstand the pressures of growing baby birds, and it's warm.
Save your fallen hair for your local birds. Look around later. You're sure to experience the joy of seeing a nest built with your hair.
Some of us absentmindedly stroke our hair when we drive, to straighten it of course....when you have loose hairs when you drive put them out the window. Some lucky bird will find it.
We are all related.
It's also fun when people ask you about your long hair in a negative way to respond enthusiastically about how you are growing nesting materials for the birds in your area. You can even have fun by asking them why they aren't growing their hair long for their birds and acuse them of animal curelty....in a Monty Python sort of manner....
I do that too.

THATS PRETTY FUNNY! I PULL THE HAIR OUT OF MY BRUSH AND THROW IT OUT MY CARS DOOR TOO, ONLY I DON'T KNOW FOR SURE IF BIRDS HAVE USED IT FOR NESTING OR NOT BUT I'VE DONE IT ENOUGH TIMES THAT IT HAS PROBABLEY HAPPEND BY NOW.
