Does hair grow slowly with dead ends?

My hairs has ends that look dead, If I were to cut off only the dead end portions of it then I really wouldn't have long hair anymore. Is there something I can use to help this? Does hair grow slower when it has dead ends? I should probabley also say that I use Rogaine so I don't want to use anything that clogs up follicles because I have a hard time growing hair as is. thanks

hair grows from the scalp. it goes with out saying that all hair is dead tissue. conditioners and treatments may help the hair look more alive. vitamins and minerals may help the hair be stronger. or, medications you take and physical problems may weaken your hair. i have used rogain for sometime. i believe thqat in some cases, the hair rogaine re-produces is thinner and weaker than the original hair it replaces or rescues. also, i have found that rogaine discolors my grey hair. it causes a yellowing of the grey. btw, i have found that propecia helps. the side effects are not noticiable to me.

THANKS TOM, SO I GUESS PROVIDED YOU DON'T HAVE A LOT OF SPLIT ENDS IT WILL ALL DEPEND ON WHICH TREATMENTS AND CONDITIONERS YOU USE HUH? I USE ROGAINE TOO SO I KNOW EXACTLEY WHAT YOUR TALKING ABOUT WHEN YOU SAY THE NEW HAIRS ARE NOT AS THICK AS WHAT USE TO BE THERE, AT LEAST NOT AT FIRST ANYWAY, HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN USING ROGAINE TOM? I'M JUST STARTING MY 5TH BOTTLE. HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN USING PROPECIA? I AM SERIOUSLEY CONSIDERING TRYING NIOXIN ON ONE SIDE OF MY HEAD AND CONTINUEING TO USE ROGAINE ON THE OTHER, THE ONLY THING THATS STOPPING ME NOW IS FINDING A STORE THAT SELLS NIOXIN. THANKS

i used rogaine several years ago and stopped. i've been on theis series for more than 3 years. it seems it took 6 months at least before i could see a diff. my hairdresser said she could see new growth in a matter of months.
i assume you know that with long fragile hair you have to be very careful about brushing and combing, especially while wet. i use a dryer very little if any. perms and permanent color are also hard on the hair.
as to nioxin, i know nothing except i have seen it a sallye's beauty supply.
