Wavy Hair

I've been growing my hair for about 9 months now. I want to try to get it mid-back level. It is about mid-cheek level in front and touches my shoulders in the back right now. Unfortunatly I have wavy hair. It looks horrible when I part it in the middle so I have just been combing it straight back. This is sort of a bummer though because it just looks like my hair has a bunch of body and no length. What should I do? Is there some style I should try, should I let it keep growing or is it lost cause that needs to be cut.

I think you just have wait and let it grow. I have wavy hair and mine did the same thing. Fortunely for me I had a perm at the time(1988) so it was easier to grow out. My hair is now mid back and doing fine. I cut 5 inches off last April because I was thinking of cutting it short! It grew back to mid back. Just keep letting it grow and it will look fine when it grows out!

I also urge you to keep at it. I am about six months in and I am beginning to wonder when I'll break from my increasingly ridiculous side part and go for either the center part or formless approach. Sometimes I put goo in it and ride my bike without a helmet and that seems to take care of things reasonably. Of course, I have torments ahead of me and I sympathize with you. My advice; it's all temporary; you'll look great in another six months or so; hang on!
