Premature Grey

I have shoulder-blade length wavy black hair. (About 4 inches longer if pulled straight). My problem is that it is flecked with premature grey (I am only 30) especially over the ears and the crown.
People have suggested many reasons. Some say that it is being bleached by the sun, others that it is some vitamin deficiency, and one person told me that it happens when wet hair comes into contact with the pillow for a long time. Yet others insist that I have too much hair to nourish, and that I should cut it short.
Would some one please tell me of a remedy? I did hear that Vitamin E might solve the problem.
Just as a matter of interest neither of my parents had grey hair at my age. My father and his father went bald, though.

No, don't cut it! the grey will show up more when it's shorter, especially around the ears.
