Took the plunge! Photo journal included

A while ago, I "unconsciously" decided to grow long hair. I just sorta thought I wouldn't cut it for a while, and see where the winds may take me. This was about 14 months ago, when I took my driver's license pic.
This is almost the shortest my hair has ever been (it was almost buzzed at another time), but my next picture shows what my life "average" is.
This is my senior picture, taken about 6 or 7 months ago.
That was the last day I anything sharp went near my hair ;) Since it WAS my senior picture, after all, I needed to neaten it up a bit. I swear, it was jut a small trim! Also, I THINK that I hadn't cut my hair since my driver's license pic. I also think that was around the time I decided for sure I wanna grow it out.
Here is a current pic, full swing into the mop stage. My "goal" is about 1.5 to 2 times this length, but I'm sure I'll change my mind by the time I reach it. Besides the little swab of hair I pulled all the way down to demonstrate its length, that is just about how I "normally" wear my hair. Not that it's consistent or anything, though. :) The verly longest sample I could grab now pushes 8 inches.
Why grow it out? I dunno, I guess my first thoughts were I just wanna see what it's like. I found out about this forum and have been lurking around it for 2 or 3 weeks. I finally got my pics scanned and decided to make my post.
So whaddaya guys think?

Somehow all this looks very reminiscent of "Hey." Maybe he didn't get the haircut he said he would about two weeks ago after all.
Please rest assured long hair is NOT an addiction. True, if it happens that a need for a natural, functional mane (and in my case beard) is part of your basic personality makeup (which has long been the case for me, as I finally decided last May it was no longer in my best interests to continue fighting certain drives I have had for over twenty years), once it starts to develop you will never want to part with it and it will become very much a part of your sense of identity. But it most certainly isn't an "addiction" with the implied destructive, social-value-related behavior changes -- or even any other kind of negative behavior change. In my own experiences, having long hair will not even induce any new conflict with the society around you of a kind different from that which your "different" personality already has tended to induce. I certainly will not advise that we try to fulfill every urge, no matter how destructive or needlessly societal-conflict generating, that comes into our heads, but I do feel we are entitled to pursue the restoration of our naturally-correct physical identities without someone trying to characterize that as an addiction.

Hey, thats pretty cool...I am about the same age as you (maybe a couple years older), and I have toyed with the idea of letting my hair grow a bit for the past year or so, but I have always ended up getting it cut for whatever reason (either friends' opinions, fickled interests, or just not being able to get my hair to behave itself in the morning lol). Anyway, way to go!
