At the starting point

Hey guys, I'm 16 and starting to grow my hair out again. I thank this site for the motivation. My question is, does this Biotin 600 stuff really work.. and if it does.. what are the side effects? I'm sure there are some downfalls.. I'm just curious to know what. Thanks for your time.

Im 16 too and im starting to grow mine out for the first time.. i have been taking biotin-600 for about a week and i havent seen any side effects at all. I think its just natural protein that helps your hair and nails....

Can you tell if the Biotin helps at all? From what I've read, unless you have a vitamin deficiency or something like that, you can't increase your hair's natural growth rate. The rate is typically half an inch a month.

Here's my info: Started taking it exactly 14 days ago. The majority of my hair has grown 1/2". There may be a couple strands that are longer, but most strands have grown the half inch. If I pull my hair back, the resultant tail is currently about 4.5" long and fairly thin. When I started the Biotin, it was between 3.75" and 4". I was previously around 8.5" or so with lots of hair sticking out from the ponytail holder. If things continue as is with the Biotin, I should be back to how I was before the 4th of February, by June 4th. We shall see.
Keeping my fingers crossed,
-J

So, you got 1/2 an inch in 2 weeks? twice the normal rate? are you taking any other vitamin supplements? I hear to get the max effect you need zinc and copper with the biotin. I take vitamin supplements that have 100 percent RDA on everything, except not much biotin or pantothenic acid, like 15 percent each. Considering taking Biotin.

Actually, I've been taking only the Biotin, but about 1 mg, instead of 600mcg... So, a higher level. Only side effect might be that I'm a little sleepy all day, but that's not really unusual for me. Tend to be that way if I don't decide to get a little sleep in the afternoon or early evening. Go for it...

Which is fine, just as long as you don't let a dog sleep with ya. Very unnerving to be awakened at 7 am and realize that you have an extra 90 minutes to go before it's time to actually wake up. When that happens, I really become a crabby person in the morning.

What? I LOVE it when that happens! No good feeling in the world like realizing "yes, I get to go right back to sleep!"

Well, it depends. If I don't have to go into school (still a college student after 8 years - lifetime plan), then I'm ok with it. But, if it's during a week day, I will be a crabby 25-year old guy...

P.S. in 3 weeks, I've had 1 full inch of growth in the back... So, I'm pretty happy with the improvement that Biotin gives ya...

eyup. Exactly. Plus, the first week, I was only taking the 600mcg amount, then went up to 1mg-1.2mg the next week. So, it may actually be more like 1.5", since I usually am about 3/4" a month...
