long hair

Firstly, Ive just visited this site and half of you sound like a bunch of poofs'. People with long hair are NO different to people with short, the way you refer to people with longer hair as 'longhairs' must make everyone feel 'un'normal.
Im 16 years old and Ive got hair just a bit shorter than shoulder length and I reckon it looks alright. The reason I have it is because my hair is really thin and I am balding and if I cut it then it would be VERY visible that I dont have a lot of hair. With longer hair I can hide my thinner hair.
Im not worried about looking like a girl or anything because Im 6ft 85kg, well built and a masculine looking face. The only worry I have is that not many people have long hair anymore and it makes me feel a little bit 'out of the group'.
If my hair wasnt so thin, i wouldnt have any hesitation cutting it

your social commentary/criticism is duly noted. if any posts here (or anywhere else for that matter) make anyone feel "'un'normal" it's because they allow themselves to feel that way. the fact is that many here are looking for support because they are being treated as 2nd rate citizens by those around them. comments like yours fall short of being supportive. i happen to refer to myself as a 'longhair'- and so do most of my friends... in a group of people, it's my most distinguishing characteristic & by far the easiest way of pointing me out. granted, there are more than a fair share of off-the-wall posts here... those posting the messages are certainly free to express their opinions - and i'm free to disagree; which i choose to do silently. with a couple exceptions, all my friends have short hair and i have no problem with that. we respect one another enough where i don't try to convince any of them to grow out their hair and they don't bug me to cut mine. it's a non-issue- there's way more to a person than a hair style... and it's NOT a criterion i use to choose friends.
i'm sorry that you are dealing with hair loss at your age... it can't be easy. at some point you and all those around you who are your real friends will realize that the hair loss is in no way a reflection of you character. at that point you can cut your hair as short as you like and not worry about what others think. sadly, life isn't fair and you were dealt a bad turn, but you were blessed with size... work with what you do have and don't be obsessed with what you don't.

"Poofs" is not in my unabridged dictionary but "longhair" certainly is! It is defined as a term that is applied to a man with long hair.
: Im not worried about looking like a girl or anything....
The term has nothing to do with girls, so don't worry for us because it doesn't bother most of us either.
: ....not many people have long hair anymore and it makes me feel a little bit 'out of the group'.
Bingo! That is why we are here. Welcome to the club.
When people see a group is different, that's when they come up with a word to describe the group. The word that has been used for us since before any of us was born, yeah, even those of us with gray manes, is "longhair". Coming to love and celebrate words that describe us is what puts an end to what's bothering you - "feeling a little bit out of the group". A man can pop in and out of the closet with some things, but to be a longhair is 24-7, no way to dodge it. So you're best off to learn to like yourself, or people are going to sense you don't and then not think you're cool.

Each of us has his own reason for being a longhair, and yours is just as good a reason as any. You're welcome here for as long as it makes you happy. You've grown your membership card.

I dont feel bad about having long hair and I like the way I am. I also reckon it looks cool on me and so do a lot of people that know me. The only thing that pisses me off a bit is that its not really the image i wanna send out. If I had my own way Id have it fairly short, but I cant because id look bald. So if I cut it, Id be a lot worse off than I am now.
But, really there isnt too much to worry about for all you people. There are a lot of awesome people with long hair. Most people dont even notice anything about your hair, its just all in ya minds.
Anyway, heres a few pics of people that look cool with long hair.....
Id put my pic in there but I dont have a scanner ;)
There are thousands more.....but I especially like this 'longhair'.
Here are the pics
