what do you think?

About 5 years ago, I had achieved hair about 3/4 down my back. I had cut it due to A) Career moves I had chosen to make and B) I had noticed the negative responses (looks) I would get from "respected" members of the community. I knew at the time that the hair length would get between my goals and myself. I therefore at that time decided the best thing to do would be to cut it. I was affirmed in my decision and happy that I did at the time due to the fact that it did afford me great successes in my pursuit of my desired career.
Now I am faced with the desire to grow my hair out again, as I enjoyed the additional physical attributes it gave me. My hair was very thick, long and straight. Many women had commented at the time on how gorgeous it was, etc... I must admit, it was quite a bit to care for, but was worth it.
The conflicts I am facing are that I would like to have it long again due to the benefits mentioned above, but at the same time I find myself looking at the stereotypes against long-haired guys, IE "druggie, irresponsible, criminal, etc." which does not apply to all, but some, especially those who do not take care of themselves, IE hygiene. I feel that "this appearance" does not represent my character well, in light of the stereotypes. This was one of the reasons I removed the hair.
I could also bring up the style issue and how it is no longer "in style", but this does not have any bearing into my decision to re-grow it.
I have posted this message to get some feedback from you all on this subject, what I am looking at and how you have dealt with some of the issues I have mentioned.
One good thing, if I go for it (and I most likely will) I can look forward to having that beautiful mane of hair back in about 2 years or less if I use growth acceleration technique.

Just do it. I wound up having my hair cut about a month ago, and immediately decided to go on the Biotin supplement and start growing it back out. I don't really give a flying cr@p what other people say and decided that, since I am 25, after all, that I can do whatever I want, as long as it's legal.

I think you have the right attitude and as long as you keep yourself clean and looking respectable as far as the way you accessorize and carry yourself with conviction and remain positive, you'll be amazed at the difference in attitude you'll receive.
I think you have to keep in mind that only you can decide what's best for you.

I *love* to shatter stupid stereotypes. The "respectable" types in
their monkey suits are a primary "target". When they discover I can
talk at their level on a variety of subjects, they almost always
change their attitudes. The fact that my hair is ALWAYS neat and
clean helps.
I've even had several people tell me that when they first met me,
all they could think of was "get a haircut", but now that they know
me, the hair is fine. What's up with that? I don't quite follow
this reasoning, but I won't argue with it!
I actually am a very conservative guy who happens to have long hair
and wear earrings (& kilts too!). "Keep 'em guessing!" is my motto!
I'd say "go for it!", it is YOUR hair.

I understand your situation, at least a little bit. I have "long" hair, well it really isn't that long, but long enough to be considered long. I am studying engineering, and truthfully, when I decided to grow my hair about a year and half ago, I had no clue that long hair would really make much of a differenc in everyday life. It was amazing how it got longer, I could see people's reactions change. I mean, I never get people saying, "get a haircut", but the initial atereotypes of people really show through. It is as if the phrase, "he has long hair", keeps on going through their head, over and over. I am contemplating cutting it, for many reasons, one being I just don't like my hair long. It is not thick enough to be full and I have a strange hairline. Plus, it takes too much to care for. anyway, that is all besides the point.
What I am trying to get through is the fact that people will react differently if you have long hair. Unfortunately that is a reality of modern urban society, especially if you hold a professional jotb. Long hair makes a big difference to people for some silly reason.
have fun deciding,
Alex
