what it looks like when you have long hair and get an undercut then put it up into a ponytail more towards the top of the back of your head? My mom wants to know that it'll look like. Also I wanna see what parts need to be long and what parts get cut. And how long does it have to be to do that?

There are a lot of variations. This one is cut like a double mohawk, where its cut so high that some of the bangs are cut, too. I have seen thinner strips (mohawk) as well as wider (bowlcut), or even ones where just the bottom inch or so and the sideburns are clipped. I use the term mohawk to describe how "high" it is clipped, and a mohawk is the easiet thing to compare to, to give a mental picture. Obviously the long hair area doesnt continue down the back of the head like a mohawk, the "mohawk" or "double mohawk" undercuts are clipped up to the crown. When the hair on the front of your head reaches your crown when pulled back, (and an inch or two excess so the front doesnt fall out) you have enough, because thats where the band is placed. If you didnt cut yours this high, you probably wouldnt put the band at the crown because that would pull the hair that grows from below the crown up to the crown and would look stupid. Braiding the long hair is an interesting variation. Your mom isn't gonna like this. Hope I helped, good luck.

Why's Mom not going to like it? I wear mine this way and my Mom braids it for me sometimes when I am going out somewhere special. At school I just wear the ponytail but have worn it braided a few times to school too. I'm a senior in H.S., and am taking the long hair to college too!

I guess I want it not quite an undercut, I really don't like how that looks. like a short ponytail at the crown in the back and sortof short hair on the sides and back, but I think the part right below the stuff on the top is pulled back to...hrm
hell I dunno, hehe

Like i said, you dont need to clip it up that high. That was the only picture I know of, it need not be that extreme. Also, that guy was clipped with a 0, which is like 2-3 days growth from a shaved head. You don't need to go that short. Personally I don't like anything shorter than a 3 on me, a 2 is iffy, because I don't like skin showing through.
