growing vs. trimming

Hello. I have much fear of getting my hair trimmed every 2-6 weeks for hair growth. Every time I goto the barber, I tell them I want only my ends trimmed, but the barber cuts length and then it is useless to even grow my hair long.
I do have split ends, but my hair is still growing at the same rate each month. I havent had my hair trimmed in 6 months yet it is sill growing. I do take supplemnts and amino acids 5 days a week.
Ok the big question is if anyone can help out, what happens if I dont ever trim my hair? I know the average hair grows, without trimming, 2 years and then stops unless trimmed. So what should I do? Have my hair trimmed once every 2 years, have it trimmed every 2-6 weeks and not see any growth rate because of the barber cutting it length of everytime, or just give up? I dont know what to do?
I just wanted to say I have been growing my hair for 1 year and 7 months so far and last april I had my hair cut to a samuari cut(crown ponytail) and without trimmimng my hair since march I still see growth, but ends are dry.
SO tell me what I should do. If I goto the barber, all they will to is cut off length and I dont want that at all.

Well, all i can tell you is to be really careful with the person who cuts your hair. You said hair grows for two years and then stops unless its trimmed, i never heard anything like that before to tell you the truth. Hair needs trims when it has split ends or if you want it to have a diferent look, but trimming won't do a thing about the amount of time hair will grow, but oh well, i might be wrong. I never had split ends, so i will only have my hair trimmed to make it look "nicer", but not just now and only when it really really needs it and IF i eventually have split ends. Even so it will only be a little trimm, i will make sure the person who will trimm it will only take off a very small portion of my hair. I personally think that trimming hair when it is not absolutely necessary is taking away hard earned hair length. Be sure if thats what you want, but like i said before, i don't know if i'm right, i might be wrong.
Good luck

You're right. Triming hair has absolutely nothing to do with the
growth rate. Your hair grows from the folicles in your skin and what
you do to the ends of your hair has no effect. It may seem so if the
ends of your hair become damaged and split, but that can be fixed with
proper hair care (TLC).
