My balding woes for naught!

When I was 20 I thought I was balding.
Well I'm 35 and for the last year I've been growing it long and thick and shaggy to make up for all of those years I thought I was loosing it.
I get the "Why don't you cut your hair!?" routine from my wife, mom, sisters etc.
Why is that?
Also, everytime I cut my hair it gets cold outside.
It's mid November and 63. I haven't cut my hair.
Remember, ANY bad-looking long hair is better than being bald!

Hang in there, only we as longhairs know what our final objectives really mean to us.

Nevermind. Just smile and nod your head.

Every man has the right to wear his hair in whatever style he wishes, be it long, short, or shaved. I do like long hair on some men, but it is MY opinion that a man is better off being bald than having bad looking hair of any length!

I agree with this. I've seen many guys with long hair who I think would look much better if they cut their hair. I especially don't like the biker look, which I see most of, or the mullet. I like the Kurt Cobain look a lot. Lots of guys grow their hair long but don't take care of it.
But if you grow your hair for long enough, you'll learn how to take care of it and make it look good. Unless of course you've gone too much bald, in which case you're only option if you want long hair is a hair transplant.
Stay away from hair transplants

There is no hair transplant that is going to make a good looking full head of hair for anyone who is balding (IMO). There is only so much donor hair available, and it is not enough to cover the top of a bald man's head. I have read about people who have had transplants on certain areas of the head, only to have the remaining hair around the transplants fall out. This then created a bald head on top, with little patches of hair that do not look at all natural.

What do you consider "bad looking" hair??
Well,

Jim mentioned the bad looking hair thing. I don't want to pin it down as any particular look, but I think we can all tell when hair looks bad. Most of it is personal opinion. So, I guess if a man thinks his hair looks bad, then it looks bad.

I was just curious who was to be the "bad hair judge". Your answer is
good. Unless the guy is an unreasoning perfectionist. But then he'd
never be satisfied. Just so long as its not anti-long hair people
making the judgement, then we'd all have shaved heads.
Am I correct in assuming from some of your messages that you are a
hair stylist or barber?

What I meant was ANY hair even if it looks bad is good for me because I personally would not want to be bald.
My hairs are thick and brittle and as it grows longer it curls out so I start to look like that ape from "Planet of the Apes", Zeera or whatever.
Some guys look good bald.
I wouldn't.

Hang in there man. If you are like your hair that's ALL that matters.
