Opinions on getting an undercut
Posted by Edgehead on December 01, 2001 at 22:20:45: Previous Next
Hey,
this is my first time posting on this board and actually the first time I've ever been on this board. I'm 15 and have been growing my hair for a little over 2 years. It is really long and very full. I've always been curious about getting an undercut and almost did on several occasions but then I thought I'd miss all my hair. I'd like opinions on if I should keep my hair full or if I should get an undercut please. Thank ya

Depends if you like that style or not. I have an undercut, and I'm pleased with it. My hair it shoulder length with an undercut, it's pretty groovy.

Though the Republican fear of communism reflected a doubt about the superiority of our system of freedom, their concept of dominos is applicable elsewhere. In an undercut, you can not grow it back without a lot of mess. Cut it once and you'll have to cut it again, and then it will creap upward until you have a smelly fish on your head.
Better not to do it, and to just let your hair grow. When it is long enough to cover your shoulders or to braid, the fuzziest hair on the back of your neck can be trimmed, and instead of trimming it I bleach it white. It gives a slightly provacative look which does not yell "bleached<" but rather says how lucky he has to have blond hair that is almost invisible underneat his glorious mane.

Don't get an undercut if your hair is at 2 years length of growth already.
Thats my opinion.

My hair is two feet plus and I have an undercut and like it very much.
But you have to be careful and don't go too extreme. About 1" above
ears and lower in back works good for me. If you decide to get one
keep a very close eye on the hair cutter so they don't cut too much.

Undercuts are very functional, but the trade off is that they're also very high maintenence. If you want to get one I'd reccommend maybe half an inch around the ears at the most. Leave it alone in the back unless you've got a lot of unattractive neck hair.

Sounds like you are using the term "undercut" in reference to a style.
To a hairdresser, undercut is a method of cutting. It is similar to trimming straight across only in undercutting the very underneath hair is slightly (less than 1/4 inch) shorter than the very top hair. This allows the ends of the hair to turn under when dry. ..also great for hot rollers, ends don't stick out everywhere and easier to roll up ...but since this is mainly men, I don't think the last sentence is applicable.
