One Year

One year ago today I got my last haircut. I actually began growing my hair out in October of 2000, but I got one last little trim on Dec 10, and none since. I am fairly well past the awkward stage. My hair is shoulder length which I wear in a ponytail to work (I am a teacher). Since the sides do not quite yet reach my shoulders, wearing it down gets messy pretty quickly. I can see that looking and feeling better when all of it will collect back on my shoulders. Anyway, this site has been and continues to be a great source of information and support. Thank you all for your contributions.

CONGRATS!! Always good to hear of goals achieved! How long are you planning on growing it - length wise? Currently, I'm getting close to my fourth year of growth, and just past the shoulder blades in length, but I used to go in every three mo's to get trims (I'd probably be a lot further with no trims). After reading some posts on this site, it's now been almost 6 mo's for me since the last trim. Are you getting any split ends yet? How do you cope with those? I've been snipping as I see them and it doesn't seem to be getting worse as time goes on, but I'd be interested to hear what you, and others, think is the best process. As always, feel free to e-mail as well. :-)

I see myself growing to a length where all the hair can hang back over the shoulders, so the sides need to do some catching up, so to speak. At some point, then, I will get slight trims to allow for a uniform length. So far, no split ends. I was and condition 2-3 times a week. I really don't like greasy hair. My hair is thick and when it gets greasy, even from its own oils, it gets clumpy looking. I also do not want to over do it with too much shampoo, so its sort of an every other day schedule.
