Attack on Hair

Has anyone seen the news story about the so called "hair bandit" in
Long Beach that has been attacking long haired women and chopping off
thier hair?
Attacking women is an attack on humanity.
Forcibly cutting long hair is an attack on our rights.
Long haired people seem to be one of the minorities of choice (or
convenience) to attack, either verbally or physically.

Yeah, and he was caught today, too! Note the charge included "armed robbery". Yes, this sort of thing is a felony, fortunately, so we don't see much of it.

But then, Bill, how do you explain that PRISONS are forcibly cutting long hair off FELONS? That sounds like pure hypocrisy!

Why is it a crime for some psycho to cut the hair of a long haired woman (which of course it should be a crime). But it is not a crime for an employer to force the cutting of the hair of a long haired man?
In my opinion they both constitute an assault upon one's body.

Exerting actual force and "convincing with inducements" are seen very differently in the law. Your boss can't be sent up for false imprisonment for keeping you in on a nice spring day that you were supposed to have off, either. The difference is, of course, you can just say no to either situation, in which case you'll leave with your mane or your nice spring day to enjoy, but you'll be out of a job.
If your boss tried to physically remove your hair or keep you in the office despite your physical efforts to leave, he'd be in the same trouble as the fellow in Long Beach.
Even when discrimination against longhairs in employment becomes against the law, it will surely become a civil offense, not a crime. That would mean you could sue him for money damages for firing you, but they would not send him to jail for it. That's all that happens to people who discriminate based on race, for example.
The public gets interested in jail time for people who chop parts off other people's bodies or falsely imprison people, because these things are a violent breach of the public peace. They are a far more serious affront to public order than someone terminating an employment relationship.

This is not about someone forcing short hair onto a long haired person, rights, minorities or whatever. It is about a crime that will escalate over time to rape and/or murder. The cutting of these women's hair was not some screwy political statement about rights, etc. It was what the police call "trophy collecting". As time goes on this activity will not satisfy this man. Something bigger and more dangerous will then be needed. The cops are right to come down heavy on these guys since they are headed in a very dangerous direction.
