Relaxer Q's and Salon

Hello,
My hair is nearely to my chin, and I was waiting to get a relaxer
put in, see my hair is quite thick, and I am probably heading to the salon on friday to get it thinned, I am considering asking for a relaxer treatment to top it off, and maybe some better shampoo (Pantene just isn't doing it for me anymore, Aussie, here I come) Anywho-My hair is slightly oily, replenishes quickly. Its pretty strong, well extremely strong. I think alot of hair relaxer horror stories come from people with weaker thinner hair and it causes it all just to go down the crapper. So whats your suggestions? Should I or shouldn't I? I really want a new look, and I'm just tiring of the puffy, thick, frizzy hair (admited this won't stop the frizzy or puffy as thats related to the shampoo and conditioner) Just hurry up with the replies, friday is the day, come or go. Relaxer or not.
Also what is a good leave in conditioner, and something to make my hair shine, and not be so dang frizzy. Thanks
Dustin
(oh yeah david, if ya catch this, send me an e-mail, I had to reformat again and lost all e-mail)

I wouldn't, unless you don't mind your hair having a texture like straw.

I wouldn't do that either. Thinning will just produce more short hair that you'll eventually have to deal with . . . when the hair that gets thinned grows out to a troublesome length again, you'll want to have it thinned again, and when the stylist takes those thinning shears to your hair, it's gonna get some of those longer hairs, too. If you want a head of glorius long hair, I think you'll have to endure the awkward stage a bit longer.

Well, try some "hair polisher" or "hair shine" products. I'd get the cheaper stuff, 'cause it's all pretty much the same from brand to brand. Look for the stuff with lots of cyclomethicone and dimethicone (silicone oils); on the list of ingredients, look for stuff with CONE as the last 4 letters. This stuff will tend to weigh the hair down without that crusty feeling that firm gels will give. Oh, and it temporarily fixes split ends & 'frizzies." Just don't put too much on, or it will look like you put vaseline on it.
Good luck,

I have found Infusium 23 to be a good leave in conditioner. You can also try Frizz Ease to quell the frizzies.
