pointless

i was wondering if using shampoo only once a week is pointless? when you wash it you are removing all the oil so it really makes no difference if you do it daily or weekly? if you do it weekly, when you wash it, are you pretty much starting all over? If so it seems pointless, if not please explain. thanks

I just think sometimes the oils build up and it starts to get yucky, and looks greasy if you don't shampoo every now and then. but I could be wrong.

No, it's not pointless, and there is a big difference between washing it every day and every week. If you wash it everyday, not only do you not let the natural oils (sebum) in your hair distribute, it is a hassle and dries you skin out. Shampooing is for cleansing the scalp of the buildup of sebum, so it's good to do it at least once a week. People with oily scalps of dandruff should do it more often.

I meant to say "or dandruff."

That is the case for me. If I don't shampoo everyday my hair looks like it got a 50% discount at Jiffy Lube the next morning.
