Hats: Pros & Cons

What are some pros/cons of wearing hats during the awkward stage when it is really windy? I know a pro is obviously the fact that it will keep the hair neater, any other pros? Any cons (damage etc.)?

Pros: None

I wear a hat a lot when I'm outside. Helps a lot when the wind is
blowing or riding in a car or on a bike. Can't see where it's damaged
my hair. In fact, I think it protects it from sun damage and from
rain or dust, branches etc.

A hat certainly works very well at keeping hair neat in windy conditions...especially at the stage when you can't tie all of it into a "tail".
On the downside, I find that wearing one tends to give my hair a flat, greasy look.
I don't think wearing a soft woolly hat causes any damage worth worrying about.

i do not wear a hat in the wind. for me anyway, if there is a hair that is not long enough to be pulled back and put into a claw (one of those hinged things with fingers that hold your hair in back) or ponytail (for those of you who do that) then it is not really long enough to cause a problem, like, get tangled up.

well I don't wear one to keep it from getting tangled up. But when I'm driving and it's very windy it gets in my way and i'm barely in the awkward stage/not close to a pony tail so I need something to keep it out of my face. Also my school is pretty big so I have to walk from one building to the other and again the wind makes the hair get in my face so it's not like I'm wearing a hat 100% of the time.

I'm more convinced than ever that wearing a hat facilitates baldness.
Genetics determine baldness but after seeing many hat wearers going
bald I'm convinced that wearing hat greases the way towards baldnesss.
IMHO genetics determine your likeliness to go bald but wearing a
hat brings it on sooner.

This is an old-wive's tale.
Genetically-sensitive hair follicles are the only factor regarding baldness. If your follicles are sensitive to dihydrotestosterone, you will go bald. If they are not, you will not.
Nothing more, nothing less.
I suspect that folks tend to wear hats more when they start losing their hair. There is no causal relationship here, 'cept maybe the reverse cause, hairloss, leading to the effect, more hat wearing.
Hats can, however, cause the dreaded 'hat hair effect'.
