What is it about this stuff ; - )

Life’s never really meant very much, y’know the story it’s always just been there. You did school, you got hitched, you got a job, you got fired etc. etc. and that’s about it. Yeah I know dull and unimaginative sums it all up :-)
So why, hair mid-back and on it’a way to my hips (I really like that thought !) has life started becoming so meaningful and precious ? What is it about this darned wretched stuff ?
On the other hand if one could capture it’s magic formula and market it in bottles along the lines of “A Rare Blend of Fine Scottish Mists” or “London Fogs Herbal Extract ” we’d all be consultant millionaires overnight ! ;-)

It's sad that you apparently found your life dull and dreary in the past. It's also kinda strange that you now feel life is meaningful and precious, all because you have long hair. It would seem there are some other dynamics going on in your life that you haven't realized are a part of your new lust for life, though the idea that you are growing your hair very long, against societal "norms" is probably helping you to feel free.

Well it didn't really feel dull or dreary at the time as there was nothing around me other than TV to compare it with. When you don't know anything different you simply accept that that's how things are.
Very fortunately all my male friends virtually from school days on were great fun and there were, as for many other guys obviously some really wild times and insane parties etc. Yet none of them were interested in long hair or were too afraid to say anything if they were. So when the inevitable subject of women came up (almost every 10 minutes sober or pie eyed !) it was always the usual stuff, not the fact they had great long hair. I did have a go once and said that long hair on a woman was by far the best and there was just silence. And this must have been the reason why I never brought the subject up again because I didn't want to risk (whether I was imagining it or not) being shut out of the best group going. I guess fear of ostracisation was just too much, so something had to give.
Even when I joined in the general long hair scenes in the late 70's it wasn't something you were doing for yourself exactly i.e. because you wanted or needed to grow it as we understand it. More a way of tasting the forbidden fruit knowing there would probably be a much lesser hostile response from them. Which is in fact what actually happened though I never relaxed enough to enjoy it. And not knowing how to look after it didn't help either.
: It's also kinda strange that you now feel life is meaningful and precious, all because you have long hair.
Even now I daren't let myself believe all this happening !! I know what that sounds like obviously but it's true nonetheless.
I really hate this next dreary topic above all but not having brothers or sisters which I really missed meant there was virtually nothing you could do which escaped excessive parental inquisitiveness and attention. And because for me long hair or having long hair is just way way too important and personal there was absolutely no way they were ever going to find out in case they said no. What the hell was it to do with them anyway ? So it was just far to big a risk to take on especially as they knew just about everything else. So I guess hiding it meant at least you had something you could always call your own and why it feels really good to be talking safely about it here now....(where if you like it's 'allowed'!) I hope this is making some sort of sense ?
So the longer one's hair gets now the more precious it all seems to become. Perhaps I’m afraid the option can still be taken away or I might be told to "cut it!" I honestly don't know but I do know childhood habits can be very ingrained and hard to remove sometimes, if this is what it all is. I'm definitely not blaming anything or anyone in the past but everyone needs to have something they can always call their very own or I think most people would go stark staring crazy.
: It would seem there are some other dynamics going on in your life that you haven't realized are a part of your new lust for life, though the idea that you are growing your hair very long, against societal "norms" is probably helping you to feel free.
Obviously growing your hair has got to be one of the deepest expressions of becoming or feeling free for many people male or female, but perhaps a lot of the conscious dynamics for me might be the lifting of all the old "No-No" restrictions of childhood ? Whatever the reasons I don’t really care any more as life is getting very sweet these days :-)

I agree w/the original poster. At least for me, life i pretty boring, but growing my hair out is pretty fun, can't wait for the end result but I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Hey, it's a human body part! There's something very innately human about wanting to have all our parts.

Wonder why I've never thought about it that way before ? Out of sight out of mind ? Or that tired old line about "We all have to do things we don't want to in life".....?
Sigh....:-(
Have you been putting on hair, lately?

Hair is like body fat, but excess hair doesn't contribute to heart disease, diabetes, etc. Now, if we can lose weight as quickly as we can lose hair, or to put it another way, if we can gain hair as easily as we can gain weight, then that would be nice!
Also, I have heard that hair consists of protein, not fat nor carbohydrate!

Too bad there isn't some method to convert fat to hair. One pound of
fat to one foot of hair would be nice. Of course I refuse to say how
many feet of hair I'd end up with.

Yeah, even at that rate I'd easily bypass Sergey.
