Yesterday a friend of mine was caught smoking pot in school. Today he came in with short hair. Any connection?

I think they call it punishment.

Maybe feeling very guilty and may want to prove a change, thinking he looks more 'cleaner' without the hair...ask him.

According to Roget's Deluxe Thesaurus:
less: prep. Not as great in number or amount as: under, below, lower than, fewer
fewer: prep. Not as great in number or amount as: under, below, less, lower than
fewer: adj. Amounting to or consisting of a small number: few, hardly any, meager, scant, scarce, sparse
few: adj. Amounting to or consisting of a small number: hardly any, meager, scant, scarce, sparse
And I found "lesser" in the American Heritage Dictionary. When I looked it up, it said:
less-er adj. A comparative of little.
1. Smaller in amount, value, or importance, especially in a comparison between two things.
2. Of a smaller size than other, similar forms.

so, i was just referring to what i thought was an error in the syntax of a page that was linked to. i do not quite understand what your point is. those are the proper definitions. i was just stating that because there is a number being referred to, the lesser quantity of the weapon related incidents (singular quantity, modified quality by the word "lesser") means that there are fewer incidents. (plural, number indicated by the word "fewer")
contrasting example: the weapon related incidents are now at a fewer level. (using a plural modifier to modify the singular "level")
anyway, i hope i did not make any huge grammar misktakes (other than capitalization and really bad sentence structure), or i would look like a huge hypocrite. well, i probably do anyway. oh well. happy hair-growing. :)

Maybe he got a haircut in anticipation of a court appearance.

: How long was his hair? How short is it now? You don't state this in your post. Anyway, he should know better not to smoke pot in school of all places, let alone smoke in school.

He had it down to his shoulders. Right now it isn't even near to touching his ears. I believe that his parents made him cut it. Funny that both he and I were pressured to cut our hair for JROTC last year. Now mine is longer than his. Anyways, perhaps his job interferes with his "recreational activities." I can't blame him for trying to jazz up his boring school day. Please reserve judgement.

:Look's like he got a punishment haircut. I can't agree with your statement about "jazzing up his boring school day". Your in school to learn and prepare for your future when you graduate from school. Using drugs/alcohol to make school less boring is not acceptable. True incident; When I was inspecting work at a construction site (I am a civil engineer) where they were pouring concrete for a bridge deck, the truck driver of the concrete truck said to me: "I should have stayed in school like you did rather than drive this truck". Don't do the same thing this truck driver did, and live to regret
it. Also, stop making us long haired guys look bad by using drugs/alcohol. That's probably why he did get his hair cut.
Guilt by Association?
