Need Tips

I have been reading that some of you only wash your hair once or twice a week. I have always washed mine daily and have been using conditioner (cheap stuff). Today for the first time I didnt wash my hair only rinsed it out. I have naturally oily hair and dont know if I can keep this up or not (feels kind of dirty). If this really helps I guess I can adjust to every other day washings. Also my hair is longer than ever has been on any of my previous 3 attempts to grow it (always gave up before and got a buz cut). My bangs are just touching the top of my top lip and the back is about 2 inches below my shoulder blade. I also need some pointers on how to keep it out of my face until it is long enough to be pulled back into a pony tail. I am hoping this is at least the middle of the bad phase because the in the face stuff is driving me nuts!Any pointers or tips would be appreciated. Thanks for the help.

Well if your hair is that long, couldnt you put your hair behind your ears? If not I'd say non alcoholic gel would be your best bet

Not quite long enough to stay behind my ears yet, almost though. In the meantime I'm going to try gel next week. Maybe even put the back in a tail and gel back the top. Thanks for the advise any other is appreciated

I concur with Skarred Orange. Just use some alcohol free gel to hold until it is long enough. Also, I shampoo every other day and I have had no problems. Just condition. Also, it is very frustrating but eventually you will get there. I just recently am able to put it all in a tail after about 14 months of hell.

I used to wash mine every day too, and when I switched to every other day, my hair felt scuzzy to me as well. I got used to it, though, and now it feels too dry to wash every day.
My hair is really fine, and since I've been growing it, its ALL in my face. The best thing for me has been to wear a baseball cap. Gel is probably better for the office, but the hat doesn't leave me feeling like I can't touch my head.

With hair this long, I would have thought you should already be able to get most of it into a ponytail by now!
As for dealing with the hair that won't quite reach the tie, Gel is one solution. A few discreetly placed Bobby Pins are also good, so long as you feel "comfortable" using them.
