Depression after a haircut

Hi!
Has anyone else ever suffered from really bad depression after they started to grow their hair and had it cut? It happened to me in 2000 and at that point I really realised I wanted to grow my hair so much. After that I went for about a year without having it cut at all. Two and a half years later I finally have the hair I have wanted for a very long time. I just thought it was me perhaps, but after seeing some of the things on the web about long hair, I guess there are other people who must feel as strongly as I do about having long hair.

Sometimes I want to cut my hair really short and lose my want for long hair. (My hair can still be considered short or medium-length for a "men's haircut", but I know every inch amounts to weeks of growth.) I just feel like I won't comfortable until my hair grows out at least past my shoulder blades.

Yea, man, I can definetly testify to that. It has happened with me more than I can remember in the last 10 years. I am 31 years old and for years have wanted long hair down past middle back, bangs and all, but my hair is so thick I have never gotten through the very long awkward stage which is where I am now. Depression is a good word for the feeling after cutting good progress. IT WON'T EVER HAPPEN AGAIN!!
Anyway, one day I will be there. KEEP GROWING!!!

Hey Treyn, if your picture is an example of the awkward stage then than awkward is not that bad. You've got Tom Cruise Mission Impossible hair. Good job so far.

Shaun. I like how you put that it won't happen again. This exactly what I wrote in my journal the day after I had my haircut. I had that awful hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach - specially when we went back to Uni and one of my friends had grown his hair and it looked cool. My hair was much worse than yours at the 'problem stage'. I used to have to wash it, dry it and then, before it had chance to go bushy, douse it in that Shockwaves Spritz gel. It did the job - my hair looked fantastic but it was hard as iron and there was no shine on it at all. I persevered because I never forgot almost crying when I realised how far I had got, only to have it cut off again. If you want to see my hair, there is an image at the following URL:

which is one of the sections of my website. After seeing that there are so many other guys who feel strongly about having long hair, I intend to add an extra page dedicated to the subject. Let me know what you think - and anyone else who cares to check it out.
Thanks

I'll be if you checked after those Maury "locks of love" episodes you would find plenty of depressed people.
