Cutting to awkward stage length

Last night, at the Sonic Youth show, there were many long hairs, but also awkward stage hairs where they keep it that way.
Also, the guitarist of the band, Thurston Moore has had his hair in the awkward stage for as long as I know, so its obvious hes not growing it, but he styles it that way.
And it looks great!!
So, after this I was thinking if I should cut mine back to the awkward stage and keep it there. This would help people not thinking I was a girl which I hate, but still keeping sort of long hair.
What do you think?
your decision

it's your hair- do what you like.
having said that; i think that maintaining length at its most troublesome point is a recipe for exasperation. you had preciously expressed the intent to grow until about mid back- i say revisit that and apply the 2-week rule to your awkward length decision.
personally, making appearance decisions based in any part on what others think is not on my priority list at all. you do not have feminine features so anyone calling you a girl will reveal more about their ignorance than about your appearance.

I agree with j.s. It is your desision. But my guess is you will end up regreting it. There is a maintenance issue with the awkward stage, and I believe you should definetly do the two week wait to see if you at all change your mind. If a guy, such as myself, at any point in his life desires to have mid-back length hair he will deep down always want it. I say don't prolong the inevidable by cutting what you have already accomplished. Your desision though, bro! Good Luck!

Personally, I would say go for it. Sometimes, I find the longer awkward stage hairstyles (as long as they're one length) look simply awesome, and it's much easier to maintain also. Plus, you wouldn't be mistaken for a female. Sorta keep the length halfway up or near the neckline for an optimum result. It's really the best of everything!
