Hairsprays?

I wear my hair in a ponytail at work. I've had to use hairspray to keep it tame, otherwise it becomes a frizzy mess by the end of the day. Can anyone recommend a hairspray that is the least damaging while still being affective for hold? What about damage? Should I use any hairspray at all? Thanks for any replies.

American Crew has two (aerosol, non-aerosol) which hold well, rinse out and leave no flaky residue.

I do the same, only with a very little bit of gel. It keeps the sides from getting loose. My hair is shoulderblade length, but those short side hairs, new ones very likely, always like to fly. I don't mind for more casual occassions, but at work, I don't want to give anyone anything to call "sloppy" or dirty.

There are a lot of guys here who thrash hairspray, but I don't know why...
I use hairspray every day. I also wash and condition my hair, every day. I wear it in a so-called "half ponytail", more like a 1/16th ponytail. If I don't use hairspray, my hair is a royal MESS in no time, with it, it can take a beating and usually come out looking good.
I am currently using Thermasilk hairspray, shampoo and conditioner.

Just make sure you use a hairspray with little or no alchohol in it....that's what usually drys hair out and leads to damage. Also, be friendly to the environment and use a non-aerosol if possible. Like Robert posts, gel is usually a better hold for me and doesnt have that "hairspray" smell to it. Usually, hairsprays are made (for the mostpart) for women and have a somewhat "perfume-y" fragrance which is a bit, uh, un-manly. Anyone know of a men's hairspray out there? I don't...

Thanks all for the responses. You've given me some good ideas to try. The gel sounds like it might be a better alternative for me.
