Okay guys and girls here is my delema. I in no way ever want anything resemblign a mullet for obvious reasons and as my hair grows that is how it is looking and will look for a very long time. see I had my hair shaved for years so it isstarting from scratch, I am about 4 months in. Anyway My bangs and sides will never catch up to my back because the hair line goes down so much lower. so my back apears longer while it is all actually the same length and even though i dont have shaved or short top it still looks mullet like :( See I want hair like the lead singer of creed. all one legnth bangs and all same legnth all the way around about hsoulder legth. My question is this. To get it to be all one legth I will have to eventualy cut it anyway right? TO make it look right and not layered? So why wait? Why wait till it is very long and i would be depressed to cut it. Should I begincutting the back and sides until the top catches up then let the sides grow with the top and then when the top hairs are ling enough to touch the bottom of my back hairline then let it grow with it as well in a sense letting it all grow one legth the whole tiem so it looks better in the proccess as well? or should I let it all just grow out of control for now and look mullet like then after 1.5 years cut the back and sides anyway to get it all one legth. *sigh* hehehe please advice guys and gals!

Just get the back trimmed up and let the rest grow to meet it. That's what I did (and am doing, my bangs are almost there). The bangs have the longest way to go, so as long as you don't cut them, or cut any other layer so it's shorter than them, you won't lose any time.

You pretty much get to wait like the rest of us! 1.5 to 2.0 years, and all of us have been anxious and wanted to make it go faster. And yes, the back will look longer for a while. Don's mess with it. Just resolve to be here, today, with your hair the way it is. And then do that again tomorrow. Eventually, today will be two years from now, and you will wonder why you were so uptight. Leave your hair alone. Or, cut it, and you will learn your own lessons another way. Don't mean to sound harsh--but, you are joining this crowd. You are experiencing questions and anxiety over your hair and how it looks between here and there like all of us. Welcome to the club.

This is a natural and inevidable process of hair growth for obvious reasons. What you will have to do to get it one length all around is to wait it out and trim the back ever so often untill the bangs and over the ears get even with the back and catch up. Find a hairstylist who understands this. Patience and perseverance is the key here (unless you have money for extensions, but that just isn't natural, right?), or you will never achieve your goal. The mullet look for a while is definetly worth the end result if you really want it bad enough. Don't worry about what other people think. It's your hair, your goal and before you know it you will be where YOU want to be with your hair. A Steve Miller Band song called Big Old Jet Airliner has lyrics that quote:
"You've got to go through hell
Before you get to Heaven"
Hope this helps, dude! KEEP IT LONG!!!!!

Thank you all for your suggestions and comments. Yeah I suppose as long as I dont cut past the highest end hair i wont loose any time. But I might just let it all grow out first then 2 years down the line cut it to bring it all to one legth quick and cleanly hehe this way I can get to the long hair look faster and then enjoy the long hair look as the shorter top and bang hairs catch up :) I guess once back gets as long as I want it I will begin to trim it monthly until the bangs and sides catch up then it should look nice. thanx again everyone!

I am in a similar situation than you. I am a three-monther that started from a bald head. But I will never trim it! Even if it looks like a mullet.
