Unsymmetrical!

Does anyone else here have problems with their hair looking the same on either side? Like mine when its dry lies almost perfect on the right side but on the left it wants to 'flip out' and is more wavy. Most of the blame probably goes to the trims that I thought I needed when in reality they just kept it in the awkward stage and apparently left it different lengths. I have straightened my hair before and happen to think it looks bad that way. I am all for the wavy and full look, but it should be the same on both sides. Maybe it will start to even out when it grows out more?

Years ago, I learned by personal observation and by the obsevation of haircutter/stylist that the right side of my head above the ears is thinner than the left side of my head above the ears causing more volume and flip outs left side and more laid down hair right side. I figure this will resolve most of itself visually the longer it gets , but if not, oh well!! Keep it long!!!!!

I found my own solution to this: side parting. I like the look of one half of my face being cloaked by my hair, while the smaller amount on the right is pushed behind my ear. You could try that.

He loves his side parting! *Chomp*

There is not perfect symmetry when it comes to the body. At a glance body parts seem like they might be but the reality is that faces, teeth, arrangement of hair follicles, etc. just don't quite develop that way. Take for example your beard growth. See how it changes direction across an area that you might think should have 2 equally symetrical sides. The hair on your head does the same thing on an even larger area. Hair styles often work with these variations and some try to equalize the look but you will only be able to control your hair's natural tendencies to a point and then what developes is your own "personality". Learn to love it, it's you.
If you think thats weird..

I grew my hair out from a buzz cut, had no trims whatsoever, and when my hair was about 5 inches long it felt like there was more bulk on the left side then on the right, and looked that way also. So dont worry I think its just natural for the hair, like everything else on the body, to not have perfect symetry.
Nature favors Assymetry

no 2 things in this world are identical

Yes, hair tends to be curlier on one side than on the other.
By the way, there are some people who don't care about symmetry. Take a look at this off-centered pony-tail, for instance:
