Braids in seconds

I wanted to see what a small braid would look like on me, so I bought the Braids In Seconds by Conair from CVS. I wouldn't recommend it-it makes a nice twisted 2 strand braid, but I found long pulled hairs in the sink. I don't lose many hairs, and the ones I do are short-not a foot long. This thing pulls hairs out near or at the root. It also takes skill to end the braid with the included hair bands.
Would a hair style place that does braids do one braid? Someone said they were like $2 each.

Marty, I think before I went to a salon and paid anything, I'd look around my life and see if there is someone, a friend or relative, who might be willing to do it for you. I mentioned my wife and daughters--they can braid my hair (shoulder blade length now) in one strand, in seconds. Of course, I can't do it, but it's so quick for somebody who is used to it. In our culture, that usually means a female. Look around and see who might help you. After all, you may decide that you don't like it, or it's not quite long enough yet to get the look you want, etc. Then, you've wasted money.
BTW, the best ones I've seen on men were longer than mine. When braided, my hair reaches just past the collar, a couple of inches. It looks good enough to wear that way, but I think it will look better when longer--on me.
