Grey hair/blue dye (off topic)

This is a bit off topic but it still relates to hair so this is probably the best place to ask. Anyways, it's about my dad, he has alot of grey hair (since he was pretty young) and he says he once saw some type of dye which gives your grey hair a light blue tint (not like your hair is going to be bright blue or anything, just very subtle) and that it is for people who have grey hair. The problem is he saw this product a long time ago and hasn't been able to find it ever since. Does anybody know anything about this or where he could find it?

Are you talking about a dye so black it looks blue? Or a dye that gives a subtle bluish caste to the grey, so it doesn't look just plain grey?
I'm pretty sure in the case of the black dye, they don't make dyes like that any more (except perhaps in old brand names like Brill or Grecian that just won't give it up). In the other case, though, if you know the look you want, you can mix your own colors from bases and dyes from a Salon shop. I don't do this myself, so I can't give you any worthwhile details, but I'm sure they can help you at either a salon or beauty supply shop. Colors mixed at home are supposed to be better, and longer lasting, than colors bought in pre-prepared kits like you pick up at the drugstore, too.
Hope that helps,
The Rev
