I can get my hair into a pony tail!

At last I can just (with a bit of effort) put my hair into a pony tail! When I go back to school nobody will recognise me!
I know this is a frequently asked question but I am really worried about the amount of hairs I'm shedding. Hairs come out in large amounts. Is this normal Is there anything I can eat or drink to help?
There is also the problem of having less hair on the left side of my head. My friends think I'm paranoid but I'm not convinced. Thanks for any response.

It's not the hair you shed, it's the hair that grows back. If you notice thinning or loss, see your family doc or a dermatologist and ask about propecia, a drug proven to slow hair loss.
Losing hair on one side of the head is unusual, but not impossible. There is a disease called alopeic areata that is characterised by 'patchy' baldness, where hair loss occurs in patches, not the usual male pattern situation. This is an auto-immune disease where the body's immune system attacks normal tissue, in this case the hair follicles. It is very rare.
Also, don't pull too hard on hair. This can lead to a condition called 'traction baldness'. The mechanical tension on the follicle can cause hair loss. Tie your 'tail, but don't pull too hard on it.

Right. Don't pull the hair too hard or tightly and use
a band made for holding ponytails, avaiable at most stores
in hair dept.
Congrats. :)

Feels good to finally have that awkward stage hair out of your face, don't it?
Don't worry about your hair. If your not sure, see your doctor, and settle the matter once and for all. The last thing you want to find out is that you don't have Male Pattern Baldness, but your bald anyway from worrying about it!

Congrats, i've been wearing mine in a tail recently, but the bangs and some other parts won't go in, just let it hang behind my ears, looks alright.
When I take my tie out though, I notice the hair that was in it is like warped from it, until I go to sleep and wake up, then it's fine again. (I take tie out right before I go to bed)
