Did anyones hair just grow out?

Ok let me tell you what i mean, most ppl around here seem to have started and wanted long hair for awhile but has anyone just kinda let it go. I didn't get my hair cut like i used to every 5 weeks then a few more weeks passed and when time finally came i was like nah i'll keep it this length for awhile. So another month went by than another and i was like wow this is cool. I kinda figured i'll keep it going till i get sick of it. One year later i love it and have no intentions of cutting it. Anyone else have a similar story about there hair??

After I got out of the Police Academy (Yes, it IS exactly like the movies), where I had to keep it military style, I just let it go because I could. Once it started getting long, then I got serious about it. So, basically, I let it go for a year, then I started following a plan (more or less).

That's funny, Rev! (about the police academy) Are you still a police officer? If so, what do your superiors and co-workers say about your hair?
Saw your picture, by the way, and the hair looks great!

You saw my pic? Where? I haven't posted it. (When I get a good AFTER pic, I'll post it side by side with my Academy Portrait as the BEFORE)
To answer your question, No, I'm not a cop. I went to the Academy, did alot of testing, went to alot of interviews, and learned something quite valuable: If you want to be a cop, don't drop acid at a Grateful Dead show (even 15 years ago!). Police depts don't like that sort of thing.
We talk alot about intolerance of differences between people and lifestyles here on this board. There is alot of intolerance of non-conservative life choices in most police departments. They can be fairly closed-minded (at least, that's my experience.) After about a year of trying I accepted that I, being the sort of rebel I am, would never make it in that world anyway.
That's it, in a nutshell.

ps. I make more money, with less risk to my life (or hair), in my current job. I guess that's a happy ending, huh? :)

That's a perfect ending!!! I'm sorry the cop thing didn't work out. I have a friend that was looking into becoming a cop and he said they have the most rigorous background check, including questioning under a polygraph!! Also, I just spend the last 2 HOURS trying to find that picture. Of course, I couldn't find it so now I feel pretty silly. I must've seen someone else's. Sorry bout that...

No prob. Just reminds me I need to post some pics. I've been on this board for 2-3 months now and never uploaded any progress shots.

ps. The polygraph thing is true. Nearly all departments utilize one as part of their screening process. The problem is, they don't work, at all. All you have to do is relax and monitor your breathing and you can trick the machine. Polygraphs only measure typical physical reactions to stress, not brainwaves or anything. This means that only people who feel stress when lying will get caught. Sociopathic individuals, for example, would have NO problem passing a polygraph. This could explain the large number of bullies who make it into uniform (food for thought).

I'll have to upload my pictures, too. I'd like to post one this weekend since I'm starting at ground zero again! I heard that those polygraph machines don't work either, and that was an interesting insight on the police bullies! It was awesome talking to ya; I'm sure I'll see/talk to you soon!

Well, no, I tried this method of just letting it go, but it'd always get to a certain point where I just couldn't stand the bushiness. It wasn't until I made a conscious decision (thanks to the guys on this board) to go for it that I was able to stick out the bushy times. Now, a year later, it's just a matter of getting it long enough to where it will all stay back in a tail for hot weather, which we've got plenty of!
Congrats on being able to coast through the bushy stages!

well one day i woke up and thought my hair was a bit to long and i was going to the barber but i forgot it was cllosed on wednesdays for some reason so i was goingt the next day but i really did hate getting my hair cutt so i held off for some time then sooner or later i woke up and my bangs where on my eyebrows and i was like cool, so i sured the internet for some pictures and stuff about long hair on guys and i found this bored and i wass like sweet so im just letting it do what it wish. I did actually cutt the back a few weeks ago and it actually turned out pretty nice i can now put my bbangs in my mouth but i dont like to because i always want to bite down for some reason its like wierd but yeah i just wke up that day and it was long so im just letting it do what it wishes and if one day it desides to stick up on the side or somthing i just let it go, i found that while growing my hair i quit caring about what people think and i dress the way i want and i just feel good about my self more like and i thank the hair, docters need to subscribe it to people lol
