Finally at 2 years growth!

Hey Guys:
On the 1st of this month I reached 2 years of hair growth. I can't believe it was that long ago since I had the "ricky martin" buzz cut going on. At two years I guess my hair isn't that long, it's almost to my shoulders but I think I'm going to have to grow it longer because I still can't find a suitable way to style my hair when it's loose. I've gone with a ponytail since december, and it looks really good. People compare my "look" now to Rob Van Dam of the WWE since I slick it back with gel and I work out alot. I'm happy with the ponytail but during the last two months I've been sick of it. I want to wear my hair loose and have it look good. The problem is my hair is so thick and wavy that nothing will tame it. I thought once you reach two years, you should be able to style your hair loose and have it look decent. I only wanted shoulder length to begin with so does anyone know how much longer I'll have to go to have it look decent?
funny thing is...

Some people who have straight hair want WAVES...
and others who have wavy hair want it STRAIGHT!
Congratulations on your 2-years growth. Glad for you!

Have you thought of braiding it, either in one jumbo braid or tightly into long cornrows? The cornrows, when well plaited need minor maintenance and upkeep for a couple weeks at least. BTW, what color is your hair?
