A few Questions for you guys...

Hi I have a few questions:
1. What's the best way to dry my hair?
2. How long does my hair need to be before I can have a ponytail?
3. How do you make a ponytail? Do you just pull all your hair back or what?
4. Any tips for caring for my hair?
help is always appreciated.
Thanks!

1. Air dry. Avoid towels and blowdryers if at all possible.
2. Hair has to be about nine inches before you can put it in a ponytail.
3. I think so. My hair's not long enough for a ponytail, so I can't really tell you exactly how it's done.
4. Don't use much shampoo, and don't shampoo every day. Good to get your hair wet everyday, I've heard, and I can see why although I don't wet it everyday (even though I should). I've found that Aussie products are great. Their shampoo isn't very harsh, and their conditioners are great. Aussie Slip Conditioner is a nice detangler; Aussie Moist Conditioner is a good all-around conditioner; and Aussie Three-Minute Miracle Conditioner is a very good deep-conditioner. It never fails to make my hair look and feel wonderful.
Be gentle with your hair. Don't comb through tanges, especially when your hair's wet. That's very damaging. If you do that often enough, the damage becomes obvious. I won't say, 'Don't comb hair when it's wet', like lots of people do, because that's the easiest time for me to comb. Just be gentle. Work out snags with your fingers as much as possible. I've found that running your hair over your head is best for finding the snags and whatnot. When you find one, take the hairs that are tangled between your thumb, forefinger, and middle finger of both hands, and slide them down the length of your hair until the tangle's gone. That almost always smooths out the tangles, for me.
That's about all I can think of right now. Oh, and avoid trims; they'll only prolong the awkward stage, and in the meantime will just make your hair messier by removing the weight that keeps your hair laying down. Good luck, and keep growing!

Don't use gel or hairspray. Almost all of them contain alcohol or some other damaging ingredient. Best just to grin and bear it during the awkward stage. If you don't wash your hair for a few days, natural scalp oil (very good for hair) will soak in, making your hair behave better. You'll have to wash it out eventually, though, because after a while it'll start doing more harm than good, as it catches dirt and other airborn particles and keeping them in your hair. And I think that's about it. Maybe some REAL longhairs can give you better tips. =]

Well, I must have very strong hair. I've used gels and hairsprays every day while growing it out, i've dried my hair with towels and a hairdryer on HIGH, I've combed it out with a comb or brush while it's wet, I've hardly ever let it air dry, (who has this kind of time? I have clients to meet with!)....and yet....
My hair is perfectly healthy, past my shoulders and no split ends and not dry or damaged. I use Suave Salon Formula shampoo and Conditioner EVERY SINGLE DAY.
So, am I blessed with Super-strong hair or are my ultra-cheap, Walmart level hair-care products doing a great job??? AS soon as I get a chance, I'll take a picture and show y'all.
Yea, Baby...!!!

I'm the same way. I use hair dryers, comb while wet, and shampoo, and condition every single day without split ends or any damage at all.

Hmm, maybe it's Scottish blood lines... I'm 1/3 Scottish blood, perhaps we had to evolve strong hair for those cold, damp winters in the highlands. Yarrrrgggh!

1. What's the best way to dry my hair?
I recommend letting it air dry. If you just HAVE to dry it, use the cool setting on a hair dryer. Try not to use heat.
2. How long does my hair need to be before I can have a ponytail?
Long enough to fit into a ponytail! :-)
Seriously...once you can get it all back and a band around it, that's when you have it. Some people have been able to get one by going a little higher on the head in the back.
3. How do you make a ponytail? Do you just pull all your hair back or what?
Brush it back, hold it together, put on the hairband. Piece of cake.
4. Any tips for caring for my hair?
Wash no more than every few days. Use conditioner. Use leave-in conditioners.
Once a week, leave the conditioner in for about 30 minutes, preferably with your hair under a shower cap.
Avoid blow drying. Use a wide tooth comb and start at the bottom first, working your way up. Be gentle and don't force the comb through.
Every now and then, do a deep conditioning. Use either a good product made for that, or simply use mayonnaise. Leave it in for about an hour, then wash it. I do this once every couple of months or so. Others here use vegetable oil, olive oil, etc rather than mayo, but it's all good.
: help is always appreciated.
That'll be $25.00. Cash, check, or charge?
;-)
: Thanks!
Don't thank me...just pay up!

Making your hair into a ponytail is not too hard. You take the hairband around your thumb and forefinger, slid back a little so your fingers stick out. Grasp your hair (pulled back already)with your fingers, and pull it through the band. Double the band (or triple it) as needed by doing the same thing: pulling your hair through the band like threading a needle.
Hope that helps.
