Pardon the yellow cast in the attached photo - incandescent lighting and a lack of image correction. My hair is nearly white.

Yeah, and look at Gandalf's and Saruman's hair from LotR. Long grey and white, respectively, and it looks GREAT!

Rauru? He doesn't have long hair (not that I can see anyway) unless you mean someone else.

I have no problem with gray hair. I found my first one yesterday at the
ripe old age of 22. Darned if I can find it again though... I think that when the time comes, I'll look pretty good with a salt and pepper ponytail.
I can't see ever cutting my hair short. Put me down for 'forever'.

For me, it's just a style thing. I've had ultra short hair, medium hair and I've had long hair to my waist. Depends on what look i'm going for during the time period, which is why I don't get why people are so idiotic and insulting about the long hair thing. I've had them all, so what's the big deal? It's all about what you want to look like. For me, it's not a social statement or a lifestyle.
It's just hair. It grows, you either cut it, trim it, curl it, dye it, weave it, make it into dreadlocks, plait it, comb it or not, wash it... whatever. But please yurself, not society.

Until the turn of the millennium, by which time I hope that it acquires the length of a football field.
Of course sometimes God and nature throw a monkey wrench into your plans....

If my hair gets too thin to look decent, then I'll cut it. I'm in my 50s, so who knows how long that will be!!!

After seeing everyone's reply, it is obvious that long hair is something that requires time and commitment and once you achieve the status of being a longhair it is not something that you want to let go. :)

D and E, keep it long forever and into old age. I think long hair looks good when it turns white.

F: Until I finally have the chance to travel to Afghanistan, the country of my dreams - when in Rome, do as the Romans do, and long-haired men in .af are traditionally looked upon with some contempt, especially when beardless (but that doesn't touch me, my face is quite shaggy)... on the other hand, in some parts of Afghanistan, e. g. Nuristan or some eastern Pashtun provinces there exists a good tradition of long hair on men, especially among sufis and wandering dervishes...
