I got a trim!!!

HI,
Well after a year of growth I broke down and got a very light trim to clean up the tips. I know most people say not to trim, but I'm very happy with it. I went to a stylist I trusted(actually the one my mother uses...I think I'm one of the few guys that gets his hair cut there)and told him to conserve as much length as possible while removing the damaged tips. He carefully trimmed about half an inch on most parts and no more than 3/4. It is definetly a bit shorter;however, it looks healthier, neater, and when I gel it back, it lays better and makes it look longer. My point is that if you want a ponytail the fastest, don't trim. But if you are having trouble dealing with the messiness of the awkward stage trims are not the evil they are made out to be. Especially if you have damaged ends(or bleached tips in my case). A very occasional trim will help keep you hair from looking like total crap during the awkward stage.
Cheers,
Evan

Trimming off the very ends after such a long period of growth
is not a bad thing for some...
By evening out the ends you will definitely have a neater, sleeker look.
This has nothing to do with split ends by the way; it's
just that uneven ends can LOOK frayed and fuzzy.

i got the back trimmed about a month ago, it helps. by removing those ends that spray out a bit the whole hair tends to lie flatter and closer together and so is generally neater.
